Abu Bakr by Shaykh Zahir CD2
before i type out the contents of the CD i might as well tell you a bit about my first day (again) at uni. Well, i woke up at 6am, then left the house after 6.30 to make it into town to get the 7.20 train to Leicester...then another train to Loughborough. I so can't be doing this journey evryday...am so taking my car!!! Anyway, the journey was fine, just a little long but managed to get ther on time. Because i only got the acceptance the day before they didn't have me on the register, so i didn't get a library card or anything... anyway, the process took ages and i get all the crap tmrw. I then had a free period (lunch) so i spent it in the Prayer room. Met a few sisters there but they were all undergrad which made me feel really old!! Also, on the way home i met so many other undergrads who though i was one of them but i had to correct them and tell them that i am 21 and studying for my Masters. Okay- my course. The modules sound really interesting so can't wait to get started. InshaAllah they will be as interesting as they sound and wont be too much for me to handle...i think im the only one without an economics background. And it doesn't help that my whole course is full of Chinese ppl- we know how hard they work!?!! Anyway, made this friend on my course and it happens that she's from Bham too- hopefully can share lifts with her...
*oh, mufti is on Radio Ramadan Leicester- his voice is so...erm, distinctive. And Sheikh Ibrahim Mogra is on too.*
Also, my timetable isn't too bad- have Friday off!! So can go to my Arabic class and work at Knowledge and Wisdom. Have to stop my tajweed class cos there is no way i will make it back from Loughborough in 2mins!! Its ok- inshaAllah can find somehwere else to learn tajweed...think mate Khadija is starting a class. Its just a bummer that i have to go to uni Monday 9am- gonna have to catch train again because not been on the motorway yet.

ABU BAKR by Shaykh Zahir CD2
- Out of the other nine Sahabas promised Jannah, five of them became Muslim at the hands of Abu BAkr (ra). How grateful they will be on the day of Judgement (DoJ) to Abu Bakr. Who are our friends? Are they the type of friends who will take us to Jannah or are they the type to drag us into the hell fire?!! The Sahabas will be extremely grateful to Abu Bakr as he took them from eternal doom to eternal success.
- first Khateeb of Islam. Abu Bakr went to the Prophet (pbuh) and asked, " give me permission to preach about Islam openly". The Prophet (pbuh) was worried so didn't grant permission. Abu Bakr kept asking day after day so the Prophet (pbuh) finally granted permission to Abu Bakr to preach Islam openly. Abu Bakr went straight to the Ka'ba. At that time the Ka'ba was still the hub of shirk in the Arab peninsula, with approx 360 idols. He went to call people to the oneness of Allah (swt). The mushrikeen came upon him and beat him severly that he was unrecognisable.
- After a long period of time he came round. Whilst he was unconscious his tribe of Banu Thame(i think) swore an oath to killwhoever was responsible, if he were to die. Once Abu Bakr came round the first thing he said was 'how is the messenger of Allah?'. Banu Thame were disgusted as it was because of the Prophet that he was beaten up...this was the kind of love he had for the Prophet(pbuh).
- He was offered food by his mother but he refused until he knew how he was. Umar's sister came to see him and informed him that the Prophet was ok. He was offered food again but refused until he saw the Prophet(pbuh).
- Someone asked "when is the final hour going to come?" After prayer the Prophet asked, 'who said that?'. The companion came forward. The Prophet (pbuh) asked, "so, what have you prepared for it?". The companion said, "I don't have much fasts or much salah (this did not include obligatory fasts or salah, he was referring to extra ones) but all i do know is that I love Allah (swt) and the Messenger(pbuh)". The Prophet (pbuh) said, "on this day you shall be with the ones you love". Shaykh Zahir went on to say in the lecture- who do we have as our role models? Who do we love?!! Make sure that the ones we love are those that Allah (swt) loves!
- Abu Bakr was always the first to take initiative to do khair. Ali (ra) called him 'as-Sabak'...always the first to do good things. According to Abdullah bin Abbas 'everything about him was khair'. There are 360 characteristics of khair. When Allah (swt) wants to enter someone into Jannah he gives him One of these 360 characteristcs of khair. Abu Bakr once asked the Prophet "do i have any one of these characteristics?" The Prophet replied, "you have all the 360 characteristics of khair".
- Bilal owes so much to Abu Bakr as he saved him from the torture of the Jahilliyah. Abu Bakr went to Umaya (Bilal's owner). "how much would he cost for you to free him?". She said, "since you corrupted him, you can have him!! You can take him for 5ounces of gold." He ame back with that amount. She laughed at him and said that if he had haggled with her he could have taken Bilal for one ounce ofgold. He replied by saying that if she had haggled with him and asked for 100 ounces of gold he would have given it to her!! He bought Bilal staright away and freed him.
- Beofre Islam, Abu Bakr was one of the wealthiest men in Makkah. It is said he had 40,000 irhams and spent everything in the ath of Allah (swt).
- Abu Bakr was always the one to reply on behalf of the Prophet (pbuh). So who replies on beahlf of BAu Bakr. Once the Prophet and Abu Bakr were sitting near the Ka'ba. Someone came up to Abu Bakr and started harrassing him verbally. Abu Bakr said nothing in reply and this went on for quite some time. The Prophet (pbuh) also sat and watched the person harass Abu Bakr and said nothing. After a while Abu Bakr became frustrated and replied to that person. The Prophet(pbuh) got up and left. Later on Abu Bakr asked the prophet (pbuh) why he left. He replied that when Abu Bakr wasn't saying anything tha angels were replying on his behalf. But when he started to answer back Shaitannn became present in the gathering. And it is not benefitting for a Prophet to be in the presence of Shaitaan. Angels reply on behalf of Abu Bakr.
- Once Abu Bakr had an encounter with Finhaas, a Jewish rabbi. Abu Bakr asked him "why do you not say he is the Prophet?" Finhaas replied that he didn't want to be part of a religion that is poor. Abu Bakr beat him up. Finhaas came to the Prophet and complained about Abu Bakr. Neither had any witnesses so Abu Bakr just accepted it. Abu Bakr said that Allah (swt) was his only witness. Allah(swt) at this time sent down Angel Gibrail to exonerate Abu BAkr and to do this until the DoJ. Allah (swt) sent verses from the seventh heaven to exonerate Abu Bakr. When the family of Abu Bakr would be slandered Allah (swt) would intervene..this is the barakah of Abu Bakr. e.g of this would be the daughter of Abu Bakr, Aisha (ra) and the story of her losing her necklace- ayats were revealed to clear her name!!
- On the DoJ Allah will reveal himself for all the believers on one day. On a second occasion Allah (swt) will reveal himself solely to Abu Bakr.
