I fucking hate it when people are fucking losing arguments and their only comeback is getting others involved and killing the argument by saying " you're gonna let her talk to me likethat?!" ( yes!i fucking am cos you're just a single-braincelled-individual!) or my all-time-favourite "you're supposed to be practicing..." (because practicing people dont have 'discussions', they just sit there like dumbasses while others are left to feel small).

Then obviously comes the floodworks...think its the one who lets rip first that gets the most sympathy.

i get a little confuseda lot of the time when i cant distinguish between cultural crap and what is actually Islamic. So for this reason, may Allah (swt) forgive me for what i am about to say ....or not if i am correct!

What the hell are you supposed to call your husbndwhen you marry? Traditionally women have NEVER called their husbands by their name (dunno if thats just a Bengali thing) and for some reason (because Sylhetis have not evolved!) it is still looked down upon when a wife calls her husband by his name.

Poor cousin of mine, who recently got married, has been getting a right telling-off for calling her husband by his name. What can she do? She's so used to it already cos they were 'friends' before they got married!! What?!!>..she's supposed to all of a sudden call him by something not-his-name?!!

My sister doesn't call her husband by his name...but i just blame it on the fact that she's a Sylheti in a Pakis clothing!! She quoted from the great "Beheshti-Zevar". For those of you who dont know what it is, is a kind of 'marriage/life' book for women with a very Asian subcontinet bias!! I read it just before i was practicing and put it to one side after reading the first few pages...not a direct quote but something along the lines of women should stay in the kitchen type. After that point i have never opened it again. Now Mufti Taqi Usmani has a commentary at the beginning making it authentic in many ppl's eyes...including my own. But still i do feel that its very 'traditional'...which may not be so bad sometimes. I guess its not bad when you've been brought up in that way...which many of us haven't...not even my sister!!

why is it so bad to call him by what he is called? Its fine to call your spouse by loving names...but does it not get a little embarassing when you do in front of elders who call their husband "hell-low"(in Bengali accent) and "air-re" (translated to Oi)... think i'll face the consequences when i do it!

Is it a respect thing? Islamically you're supposed to have more respect for your husband then your father,and you woldn't call himby his name. I dont get it!! I think it'd be more disrespectful if my husband called me by names other then my own, personally!

im so sad...i have finally given in and joined facebook. Dunno why i did it. Think its cos im really bored. Exams are over, finished my arabic class, only in once a week over the sumer at uni, noone seems to be blogging...need to sort out the settings tho cos dont want random ppl looking me up!! not that i have anything to hide...and not like im going to put up any pics...

Got my place for PGCE Maths at Mcr Uni alhamdullilah. Dunno whether im going to take it tho- dilemmas!! need someone to make decisions for me really!

a little annoyed. my parents are deciding to go to Bdesh again. Why would they choose to go then when the countries practically under water?!! Plus, they're trying to get Haifa to go- she'd rather be working here over the summer and making money! And obviously my brother cant go cos he'l be working in the restaurant instead of my dad. Allthismeans is that my elder sister will be popping round every single day to 'keep on eye on us' and shout at me evrytime i come home after curfew of 5pm!! seriously, some house-wives need lives and get out of mine!! All this strictness is doing my head in- think its time to move back to Mcr!

Speaking of Mcr,i had my PGCE interview yday. OMG it was really draining. It was a 4hrs assessment Day! Had a presentation to do, a interview of 40mins, group discussion, numerical and literacy tests...it was just like the banking assesment days i had!!Cant tell if it went well or not...inshaAllah il get a place if im meant to be there from September!

a bit more annoyed at trains!! theycan put man on the moon but they cant figure out a way of using your phone on the train without being cut off because of bad reception!!Need to write a letter to Mr Virgin!!
